What’s up Bud Fam! Congrats, you’ve made it this far. You’ve been able to grab your Gen 1 Buds and watch them grow into little Monsters. It’s been awesome to see you all smoking the hell out of them! Some of you have even started breeding your own Buds since we rolled it out this week. Kudos for you for just going into it, but now we have this breeding guide for the rest of our community.
This breeding guide should allow you to understand how the process works and what you’ll get out of it.
What is Breeding?
Bud owners will be able to breed two Buds together to make additional MonsterBuds. All of the original seeds minted are Gen 1 Buds. Breed two Gen 1 Buds to make a Gen 2 Bud. Every Bud will only have two breed counts, so be selective. Phase 1, our current phase, marks the ability to breed your own MonsterBuds. Later, Phase 2 will allow you to request to breed with other Bud owners. Breeding will have a 420 hour cooldown period.
The Breeding Process:
To start the breeding process, select two of your Buds to enter the breeding chamber. You can initiate the process by paying a .008 ETH fee + gas. Breeding results in a loss of 1 breed count.
Once you initiate the breeding process, your Buds will get down to business and should take a couple of minutes. A new seed will come out of this love-making session and you’ll have to wait five days for it to grow before you can breed or smoke it.
The New Generation:
When you breed, a new generation is created. The new generation will equal the highest generation of the parents + 1.
Example:
- Gen 1 + Gen 1 = 2
- Gen 2 + Gen 1 = 3
- Gen 5 + Gen 1 = 6
New generations will remain under the original MonsterBuds collection, from which you can filter to see any generation you want. The characteristics of the new generation will be derived from our genetic variance algorithm that will choose 75% of all characteristics and body parts from the parents and another 25% will be completely randomized. This includes THC/CBD amounts, so breeding two high or low THC/CBD Buds won’t always result in the same fashion. These will be more important once we roll out more Bud Games down the road. We also utilize a unique MonsterBud naming system so all of the names will be randomized. Our algorithm cross-references the database of all of our Buds before outputting a new seed, making sure no Buds will be the same.
Certified Strains:
As you all know, we also turned some real-life strains into MonsterBuds and those are denoted by Certified Strains. They also have a green CS badge on our website. Each one is a 1/1 made after a certain real-life strain. These are crazy rare, and you should definitely BREED RESPONSIBLY. Breeding Certified Strains follow the same genetic variance algorithm. If bred with other Certified Strains, it’ll take 75% of all characteristics and body parts from the parents and 25% will be randomized. A CS can breed with a non-CS and still get parts from the CS, but no other Buds will get CS parts without directly breeding with one themselves.
Requesting to Breed:
Later on down the road, we’ll open up breeding to allow you all to breed your Buds with each other. Users will be able to send breeding requests by clicking “breed” next to their favorite Buds. The requester will select one of their own Buds to be shown on the request. Breeding requests will send a notification to the receiver, which they will then have 24 hours to accept. Receivers will be able to specify a fee for accepting the request, since the new seed that is minted will go to the requester. To be clear, the one who requests to breed gets the seed, and the one who allows the breed gets a fee. We will keep you guys updated on when we can expect breeding requests to roll out.
Buying on Secondary:
MonsterBuds is not responsible for secondary market purchases at all, please do your own research before purchasing any Buds. You can use filters to sort for specific generation Buds, ie Generation 1 Buds will always be OG. Look for the token ID and double-check on our website for breed counts and the generation. We pushed a web update to include a search function by token ID to find detailed information on any Bud as metadata can be slow. Token IDs are in order of each collection up until 10,420.
Token ID Reference:
1–865 = Puff Puff Passes
866–10,420 = Generation 1 MonsterBuds
10,4201+ = All future generation MonsterBuds
