About Exosama Network

On October 21st, 2022 Moonsama announced that the highly anticipated Exosama Network (EXN) was live and producing blocks.

EXN, a standalone EVM blockchain that uses the Proof of Authority protocol, comes as the natural next step for the Moonsama Ecosystem, whose products had so far been deployed across three other networks (Moonriver, Moonbeam and ETH Mainnet).

The increasing complexity of Moonsama’s products combined with the nearing risk of outgrowing the platforms where they were being deployed, evidenced the need for a tailor-made network, rather than continuing to rely on third-party blockchains.

EXN provides a seamless user experience, characterized among other aspects by near-free, fast transactions that position the network as the best piece of infrastructure to host Moonsama’s family of games and applications.

Following the launch, Moonsama will start a surgical migration process that will relocate parts of the Moonsama tech stack from their networks of origin and straight to EXN.

EXN’s roots can be traced back to September 21st, 2021, when the first Moonsama product was launched: the Moonsama NFT collection. This collection, formed by 1000 ERC-721 tokens depicting a race of bird-like creatures (the Moonsama) was the first in a long list of community-acclaimed products that ended up forming what we nowadays call the Moonsama Ecosystem.

The Moonsama ecosystem has continuously expanded

In the following months, the Moonsama Ecosystem grew to encompass multichain blockchain solutions, composable NFT collections, a myriad of Web 3.0 assets, games, NFT marketplaces, a thriving Metaverse and an overarching lore trying them all together.

Precisely during that period, and as the crypto space sunk in the so called “crypto winter”, the market capitalization of the ecosystem soared above the $100M landmark, and additional NFT collections were minted to allow for a controlled growth of the player base. Exactly one year after the birth of the Moonsama Ecosystem, the Exosama NFT collection was launched. This cyberpunk collection, formed by 10000 unique cyborg-like characters manufactured in the fictional city of Nova, has become the entry point to the Moonsama Ecosystem for all newcomers.

Also during that time, Moonsama actively implemented a series of Play-to-Craft mechanics connecting all its applications and games. By participating in weekly game sessions, players are able to collect an ample spectrum of rewards that were distributed as either ERC-20, ERC-721 or ERC-1155 tokens.

Players were then able to use these tokens to craft new tools, unlocking different in-game features. Through this system, the Moonsama Ecosystem established an incentive mechanism that not only rewarded players for participating in the apps and games, but also for reusing the rewards to strengthen their power in them.

The Play-to-Craft mechanic has become one of the core components of the Moonsama Ecosystem, and it has served as a vehicle for players to secure a seat in all apps launched by Moonsama to date.

The SAMA token was generated via extensive player activity in the Metaverse

Moonsama’s ecosystem encompasses blockchain technology, community, metaverses, assets, marketplaces and NFT collections.

EXN is being used as a platform for minting our in-game items and as the blockchain to migrate numerous NFTs from our flagship NFT marketplace, Raresama. SAMA, as EXN’s native currency, is positioned as the single critical enabler of the entire player economy of the Moonsama Ecosystem.

Moonsama currently has over 1,000 weekly on-chain players on our Carnage metaverse integration which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of transactions via turning in-game items into on-chain resources. These on-chain resources are used through the ecosystem by crafting new NFT items to power up your base NFT such as Exosama and to enter new games, such as Pondsama.

We’re known for our play-to-craft economy resulting in a large number of transactions compared to most of the existing Web3 games and metaverses. These numerous transactions would cost more than hundreds of times if done on many other blockchains such as Ethereum making the play-to-craft mechanism unpractical.

Having a cheap and fast network facilitating these transactions is necessary for a seamless and user-friendly experience. We believe that one of the reasons NFT 2.0 technology and play-to-craft mechanisms have not been explored thoroughly yet is because of the technical obstacles the blockchains NFTs use have, until now.

Exosama Network unlocks new opportunities. Our Moonsama Metaverse is off-chain due to the restrictions that existing blockchains have. We are bound to be the speed, transaction costs and decentralization of these blockchains. At the current phase, these blockchains don’t allow us to have on-chain activities inside the metaverse without compromising from something.

One of the barriers Web 3.0 has to overcome is lowering the entry barrier. Having our own blockchain allows us to have certain transactions and extrinsics, such as staking NFTs on Multiverse Portal, gasless. As Exosama Network is EVM based network, using a Web 3.0 wallet like Metamask for Ethereum, and Moonbeam, is also possible for Exosama Network so there’s no need to download a new external wallet.

With the help of Exosama Network having 5-second block times, sufficient decentralization with NFT governance and cheap transaction fees, we are now not limited to introducing on-chain activities inside our metaverses anymore.

Exosama Network is based on the Proof of Authority consensus algorithm that differentiates from the Proof of Stake algorithm by validators using their reputation instead of tokens/coins as a staking mechanism. There are currently 3 genesis validators and the number of validators might go up to a maximum of 31 validators that we will select manually from the community at a later phase after this early crucial period. Having only a maximum amount of 31 validators results in faster block confirmation times by having less amount of block validators, but the importance of validators being honest increases compared to Proof of Stake mechanism.

The world’s first blockchain with NFT-backed governance

Exosama Network is pioneering the new vertical in blockchain governance. Instead of token holders, Moonsama NFT holders are in charge of the governance.

The reasoning behind this is that NFTs, such as Moonsamas, are more illiquid compared to tradeable tokens resulting in a smaller chance of malicious participants hijacking the network as it’s easier to acquire 1% of the supply of tokens rather than NFTs. “Governance sniping” is a huge issue with token-based governance models. With the over abundance of lending protocols, attackers can easily borrow governance tokens to sway votes on most networks with low turnouts.

We believe that Moonsama having a governance participation rate of over 35% throughout the history of major governance votes makes this option viable and decentralized compared to the low participation rate we’ve seen in other PoS blockchains that typically have much lower participation rates and are more likely to be exposed for malicious actors.

Having fairly distributed NFTs is crucial for decentralized and fair governance, and this is what we’ve done. Another reason behind Moonsamas being in control of the governance is their involvement in our ecosystem for the past year resulting in proving themselves to be capable of leading the way for Exosama Network.

Migrate POOP to SAMA

Migrating your POOP (Moonbeam Network) to SAMA (Exosama Network) is simple and on our website’s Migrate-subpage.

Also, Moonsama Carnage players (every Sunday 4pm UTC) can migrate through our Multiverse Portal to refine tokens inside the metaverse, yielding additional game rewards.

Please be aware that extra resources for migration are available only when done through Multiverse Portal and refining POOP inside Carnage.

To enable Exosama Network on your Metamask wallet, please use the following:

Name: Exosama Network

RPC: https://rpc.exosama.com

Web Socket: wss://rpc.exosama.com

Chain ID: 2109

Explorer: https://explorer.exosama.com

Native Token Symbol: SAMA

Next Steps

As Exosama Network goes live, we’re ready to launch beta resources starting this Sunday on Carnage. Beta resources launching are Wood, Stone, Iron and Gold. These resources will be not soulbound such as Pumpkins, so when you die, you drop and lose them.

In the beginning, the chain does not provide any block rewards for validators but we are exploring the possibility of giving out different kinds of rewards than our SAMA token in terms of ERC-20 tokens, NFTs or similar assets to cover infrastructure costs for validators.

After the chain has been running and more functionalities added, a simple governance of 1 Moonsama NFT = 1 vote will be added.

Summoning Pumpkins, SAMA tokens and NFT assets such as game passes will also go live in the near future.

We’re also proud to announce our integration with Multichain.

This integration allows Exosama Network users to swap their assets to various different blockchains including Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Fantom, Arbitriumand more in the future.

Some of you might have seen the word spreading about Khaos Exchange. Hidden in the darkness materializing at the dawn of the creation of The Exosama Network KHAOS emerged. Unleashing a decentralized exchange (DEX) with an automated market maker (AMM), providing liquidity and peer-to-peer transactions, built on the Exosama network. Khaos will spread and evolve with the Network bringing a community-centric environment.
