“Not All White People,” is a deflection, nothing more. Obviously not all white people do this, and if you’re a white person who doesn’t, he isn’t talking to you.

“But it’s a gross generalization!” Black people (and all people of color) as a group have no power to harm white people as a group beyond hurt feelings. We can’t honestly have any sort of discussion if we can’t discuss what the actual problem is with language that people actually pay attention to.
