Go on, why don’t you just ruin my day…

I’m not a spontaneous guy. I like to know what’s going to be. Over the course of the day, over the course of the weekend. I like plans and I like sticking to them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not making out I’m always super busy doing super important stuff. Hardly. But if I’ve planned for a lazy day, I damn well want that day to stay lazy.

I don’t like it when we have planned to go to IKEA and instead end up going to B&Q. I have psyched myself up for this IKEA visit. Mentally prepared. What I don’t need is to be told on the motorway to head elsewhere. What do I do? How do I break this news to Waze?

You are on a night out, you know, out out, dinner, drinks/bar/club and you have a clear outline of how the night will progress and some FLIPPING INNOVATIVE GENIUS decides to try and win the Nobel Prize by suggesting we go to a DIFFERENT bar. WHO THE FLIP ASKED YOU. And everyone gleefully goes along with Steve Jobs over here. Yet you are finding reality is no longer matching up with your mental preparation. Your brain needs time to buffer. There are glitches. You just end up going home.

Maybe people just need to take people like us into consideration.

Maybe I just need to chill out.

N.B. I don’t oppose all spontaneous occurrences. My issue is when the plan we were living out changes for no reason. For example when we were planning on going to a gig didn’t happen we had a wicked night involving vodka, watermelon and strawberries. If it ain’t broke…
