How was MoreLegends project born and what exactly what does it offer?
Just a couple years ago, the word “eSports” was not taken seriously and was sometimes even laughed at. Today, cybersport events are surpassing traditional sports in the number of spectators and are broadcast on a national television. Hundreds of millions of dollars are invested in it, individual olympiads are held and you can even get a related degree in a university.
The cybersport market is developing at a crazy pace. In 2018 the industry brought 906 million dollars in total, which is 38% more than in 2017. Together with revenues grows the audience and its involvement. Every year more and more people intersect with video games somehow. There are also those who refuse to work on usual jobs in favor of games and for a good reason. Professional players and streamers receive seven-digit sums for doing something that they have a passion for and that brings them pleasure. Here is the latest report and market assessment on esports from Newzoo.
Naturally, lots of people are attracted by this kind of activity both as leisure and as work. In order to win in competitive games, you need to put at least some efforts, and eSports is no exception. Entrepreneurs saw a huge potential in this. As a result, a new service sector appeared — teaching how to play video games. The demand is so high that even experts in this field do not always believe in numbers.
Maxim Dreval is one of these entrepreneurs. He is a co-founder of Netology-Group and Foxford. These companies are leaders in online education in CIS. And he decided to try his hand at eSports. In 2017, Maxim Dreval, Dmitry Rybalchenko (responsible for marketing at Foxford), Anton Kovalev (former head of development) and Elena Urusova (professional gamer) created a startup named “Learn 2 Play”, which attracted more than one million dollars of investments. Unlike other e-sports projects which attracted funds earlier, Learn 2 Play specializes in helping players. It gives an opportunity to learn while playing and also includes an agency that deals with e-sports related marketing and events.
One of the Learn 2 Play’s products is an educational platform for learning the game of League of Legends. It contains video tutorials for training gamers, tracks in-game statistics and gives players tips based on their performance. With the help of artificial intelligence technologies, the service analyzes each game of the user, identifies errors and makes recommendations.
The project has a rather ambitious positioning, which Dmitry Rybalchenko agreed to talk about:
“A couple of years ago, when we planned to launch a learning project, we were going to launch several services for the most popular disciplines. Since the DotA team initially assembled quickly and had a better overall understanding, moremmr.com became their debut. Well, and the second — morelegends.com, it was impossible to ignore the most popular MOBA in the world. We expect that morelegends will become a basic service for players around the world. It will help beginners to adapt and progress fast, and experienced players will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills. In the nearest future, when we add even more cool features to our users, it will be difficult to imagine the world of LoL without our morelegends.com ”
The MoreLegends project itself has gathered over 350 thousand users in four months. The platform currently supports seven languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, German, French, Russian and Portuguese. At the moment, users have access to more than 600 video tutorials, tier lists and unique content from professional players and former Riot employees. The well-known Alexander “Zak” Shcherbakov is engaged in training the CIS community. To ensure that training does not become a routine, quests and weekly cups have recently been introduced. First ones will help players gradually improve specific skills step-by-step. The service also provides a unique match analytics, with which users can track their major mistakes and get recommendations on how to fix them.
MoreLegends’ slogan is: “Learn from the best. Be the best. ” Who, if not professional players, will be able to fully convey information about the game to the user? It was thanks to this view that in August the project had signed the first partnership with the team of the Dragon Army, which had recently achieved a 2nd place in the Continental League. The team not only provides users with high-quality branded content but also takes an active part in the development of the project.
But the crew do not stop on their laurels, updates appear every week, the service is constantly being optimized depending on the needs of users. Dmitry opened the veil and told us about the plans for the next six months:
“In the next six months, we plan to localize the service into several new languages, actively entering the Asian market. By the end of the year, we are planning to have over a million users. We also plan to significantly improve the analysis of matches and launch more useful weekly contests for subscribers. Now we are focused on a special new content that is created for us by professional players and teams some of which might be interactive. The first was the Dragon Army, one of the strongest organizations in the CIS and in the future, other teams and famous pro players will join the work on our videos. Far from all of our product plans, much of it is still being developed under the “secret” stamp. But we are certain that in six months morelegends.com will be filled with new useful functionality and unique content. ”
In case you have some more free time, you can try our platform in action. We will be glad to receive constructive feedback.
