To say that the digital world has provided us with access to a great deal of information is an understatement. Admit it, our lives revolve around digital media. Everything becomes available now with a tap or click of a button. A quick scroll down the list of publications would show us the plethora of information available within seconds.

But the digital world never stops evolving.

Because of the extensive amount of information available out there, it changes the way we communicate today. How, and why do we prefer one article over the other, when both articles discuss the same topic? Or, why is it that although both companies are offering the same services and products, an online shopper prefers one to the other?

With the digital world being over-saturated today, what makes one company, product, or publication stand out from the other is user experience. A truly consistent and compelling user experience is created through standing in the shoes of the user and walking one mile after another, and truly understanding the user — their pain points, their problems, and their needs.

To tell a story is to resonate with your user and understand them.

The article written by @Usabilla, titled “Storytelling for a Better User Experience”, aptly describes how and why storytelling is the very core method of communication, and how through storytelling we can connect people on an even deeper level: through emotions.

Notes from our writer, Cherie:

As a writer, I still find myself struggling to build a storyboard and putting across information in a form of storytelling from time to time. A tip for today: The more you set aside time to write and read what you’ve written, the more naturally it comes to you. Keep writing, and share with me your journey, because I’d love to hear them.
