Introductions & Other Formalities

“Hello.” My name is Finley Page and I am a writer.

Sometimes I wish I were not a writer. Sometimes I wish I were a respected Physician, a Professional Athlete, a Secret Agent or a seasoned Pilot. But the fact is, I’m a writer. I literally have no choice in the matter. If I did not write, I would go mad.

Some people think I’m funny, others think I’m full of shit…or worse. I have been published, optioned and even won a few awards.

I write screenplays, books, articles, stand up, sketches, essays, speeches and completely mad rants. For the most part, yes, my tone is comedic. Probably because my subconscious agrees more with the healing powers of conversational comedy than it does with the shocking nature of horror. But comedy isn’t something I necessarily demand from myself. I simply write what my mind demands me to write when it demands me to write it. Unless I have a deadline, and then it’s all neurons on deck!

In other words, I’m just a guy with mediocre typing skills and a very active imagination. I only insist on one thing from myself when I write, to interpret the noise in my mind with brutal honesty and to present it in a fairly coherent manner.

I’ll use this space to talk about various things that cross my mind, or my path. They might be as simple as a trip to the grocers, or as random as a page from a script I’m working on. I may use this space for short stories, articles, punch lines or a punching bag. Like I said, I don’t even know what to expect anymore.

I have no guidance for other writers, only sympathy, and the most comforting words I can think of…”You’re not alone.”
