Where the hell are all the great senior software developers and hands-on engineering directors?

The only thing I think is missing is any sense of passion for the problems the great tech you have is supposed to be solving.

Google is providing all the worlds info to everybody. Facebook is connecting all of the friends in the world etc etc. Perhaps your tech rich soup appeals to folks new to the industry because you kind of are focused on the tech in your early career. Later on though it’s kind of nice to think that your work is making some kind of difference.
