This week I've attended an awesome event. There was an annual local business conference with top entrepreneurs sharing their journey. So inspiring to hear and hang out will all those guys who have walked the road and achieved so much but at the same time stay humble and down to earth. That’s something I deeply admire.
I’ve also been hanging out with newly found fellow entrepreneurs with whom, it seems, we have so much in common. It’s just awesome when you can talk with someone that just ‘gets you’. It’s interesting that even though we are of quite a different age (they are much younger) we share very similar views. And as we discovered we have so many things in common the idea was presented to create a mastermind group. I’m so excited, I love to help others anywhere I can and hopefully I will get some great feedback also. Now we just need to figure out how this mastermind group should work and I found this interesting guide that will hopefully get us started.
Lately my role in a company has been slowly changing. I’ve been able to offload quite a bit of work over to my coworkers, so I can focus more on managing and business development. I strongly believe that I need to focus more on working on my business instead of in my business. I hope I will be able to focus more of my time to building systems and planning marketing so we can grow faster.
I've updated our website a bit. I’ve realized there’s no call to action on our blog and sub-pages. So I've added a simple contact form and hopefully we’ll get some more conversions. But tracking analytics has proven to be quite difficult. Lately tha adwords haven’t been working worse for us. I’m not sure weather it’s a seasonal thing or just more people competing for CPC.
Recently I've been recommended a cool new app. It’s called Headspace and it’s basically a personal trainer for meditation. I've noticed a lot of the most successful people use meditation to balance their busy life. I've always been interested in eastern philosophy and have been trying to learn meditation for awhile now, especially after listening to Alan Watts lectures. I haven’t been able to make much progress though but now with the help of Headspace I thing I’m making progress each day! The only thing I need to figure out is when is the best time to meditate. I’ve been doing it in the evenings but the problem is that I’m usually so tired that I almost fall to sleep. So I need to change my routine and try it in the mornings or even during the day.
Tim Ferriss had an interesting podcast guest lately. Maria Popova, the author of popular blog called Brainpickings. She describes how a simple email letter to her friends turned into blog with several million monthly viewers that’s included even in Library of Congress digital archive of “materials of historical importance”. As she puts it the blog is “a subjective lens on what matters in the world and why”. Be sure to check 7 lessons she learned in 7 years of writing her blog.
