Joe Biden’s Moving Speech

Joe Biden snatched the emotions of blue-collar Democrats and pushed them to vote for Hillary Clinton this November. By referencing the troubles of poor and middle class workers who get up every day, trudging forward through the muck of life, hoping to place themselves and their family in a better position, Joe Biden was able to connect with the working-class audience. He used anecdotes to highlight these hard-working, every day Americans.

The teachers who Jill knows and so many of you know, who take money out of their own pockets to buy pencils and notebooks for their students who can’t afford them. Why? Why? Because being a teacher is not what they do — it’s who they are!
It’s about saving the mom and the dad from the indignity of looking at their talented child and saying “sonny, honey, I’m so sorry. The bank wouldn’t lend me the money. I can’t help you to get to school.”
If you live in the neighborhoods like the ones Jill and I grew up in, if you worry about your job and getting a decent pay, if you worry about your children’s education, if you’re taking care of an elderly parent, then there’s only one — only one person in this election who will help you.
I know I’m called “middle-class Joe” in Washington and that’s not meant as a compliment. It means you’re not sophisticated, but I know why we’re strong. I know why we have held together. I know why we are united. It’s because there’s always been a growing middle class.

Afterwards, he noted that the hard-work that these people give forth everyday should not go to waste in this election and voting for Hillary Clinton would give them a better chance to reach their goal. For all of the great speeches at the convention (Michelle Obama moved me to tears), Joe Biden was able to do something that no other speaker at the convention has been able to do. He showed a better future for those who have been disenfranchised by the economy. For that, Joe Biden has built a bridge that connects blue-collar workers to Hillary Clinton. An important bridge that may pay dividends for Hillary Clinton when November rolls forward.
