Data is a 4 Letter Word
I’ve been livestreaming since May 2015 after spending half of a year on YouTube. As a result of the now popular medium, I’ve seen the character I’ve created, Ms. Candy Blog, evolve from a concept into what’s become a business.
Make no mistake. I’m not in it for the fame.
Created with the intention of bringing happiness to others, Ms. Candy Blog is wrapped in love, acceptance and positivity, as candy and information on confectionery are shared, combined with fashion and beauty through a collection of candy couture.
All of this has led to public speaking engagements around North America and writing for a number of social media and marketing blogs, as well as books.
With 2 degrees in theatre, I’m a SAG-ATRA card holder with a background as a corporate trainer and instructional designer for global brands like Google, Yahoo and JPMorganChase. The opportunities I now have as Ms. Candy Blog are the perfect synthesis of my skills developed as a performer and those honed in my professional career. And I’m often asked the same question, time and time again:
“What’s your ROI?”
Well to thee I say, “What kind of ROI are you after?”
Dollars and cents? I understand everyone’s looking to justify the use of livestreaming as part of a social media and marketing strategy. Livestreaming is now some’s full business, whether it be livestreaming events and/or educating about livestreaming. But please know my goals and metrics are different than yours.
I’ve partnered with some of the largest companies in confectionery. I’ve streamed 3 times a night for 2.5 hours total on 6 different livestreaming applications 4 times a week. I’ve had a custom mount built for me to hold 7 mobile devices.
Here’s my proprietary equation for measuring my success based on Maslow’s hierarchy of need:
Love & belonging + Esteem = Self-Actualization
My metrics? I’m measuring love, days brightened, and lives saved.
Go talk to the “biggest” livestreamers. Ask them your number-based questions. Tick all the boxes you’d like filled.
And then come talk to me about making a difference.
You can call yourself an “expert”, “influencer” or “trailblazer”. You can make your latest announcement. You can sell your latest classes and books.
But can you stop someone from killing themselves? Or lift the burden from those who have been given a hopeless diagnosis?
Until then, f🍭🍫🍬 your data.
Klout’s #1 female livestreaming and streaming video geek, Ms. Candy Blog is the first candy livestreamer, an award nominated YouTuber on the World of Wonder (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”) network, and candy couturier.
