The Subtle Ways You Lie
Jackson Nexhip

Liar! And I mean that in the most positive sense of the word. I think you’ve got it backwards. We lie to other people and keep the truth to ourselves. We lie to keep out of trouble, to try not to hurt someone’s feelings, to get what we want when we can’t have it any other way, to avoid a guilt trip or scolding or condescending lecture.

I agree with you that people are all liars, and that we do those things in your list, but I choose to be a liar and see the world from the perspective of a liar so that I can have an easier time of dealing with the beautiful as well as the ugly in a way that smooths my path for me. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.
