Picture yourself through the eyes of a student….the one that you can’t stand, what do you see?
I picture someone who talks way too much and asks us to do so many difficult tasks. I see someone who repeats what she says to make sure everyone gets it. I see someone who may raise her voice a little too much, but out of love. I see someone who cares about their students. I see someone who rolls their eyes to many times. I see someone who tells me the same thing everyday, sit down and be quiet. I see someone who who can help me. I see someone who I can joke with. I see someone who is kind. I see someone who at times can be mean. I see someone who can explain a problem in 3 different ways. I see someone who….the list could go on and on depending on who you ask.
This was very difficult to do. While writing it I refered in my head to all those times students said something to me. ‘Miss you roll your eyes way to much.” “Miss can’t you explain it just one way.” Once you become aware of how your students view you and can make changes to make sure they are viewing you the right way.
