- Because, made you look; and that might open a conversation about the condition of our personal Constitutional Rights and the need to support the Convention of States Project to return our Constitution to it’s original meanings and intents without the judicial legislation that has corrupted it.
- Because it is my right under the First Amendment of the Constitution to disagree with the shaming of the Confederacy because it “offends” someone, anyone, or everyone.
- Because denying those rights for anyone is exactly the point.
- Because I don’t have to agree with what you believe in order to support your absolute right to believe it. (I am a great believer in allowing others to be as absolutely wrong as long as they like; I respect that right completely. They will reap the consequences and it is not my responsibility to “save” anyone from themselves; as long as, they are in no way infringing upon the rights of others or causing harm to anyone else, particularly as it pertains to children and the safety and security of our country.)
- Because I don’t have to agree with what you say in order to support your absolute right to say it. EVEN if it is categorically the stupidest thing I have ever heard OR it is the most hateful, vile, biased, offensive, slanted, parsed, cooked, distorted, falsified, fudged, misinterpreted, misrelated, misrepresented, misstated, perverted, garbled, twisted, warped, misdescribed, misspoken, mistranslated, camouflaged, disguised, dissembled, masked, veiled, whitewashed, bowdlerized, confounded, confused, prevaricated, paltered fib of a lie. You are responsible for how you perceive and process what you choose to take in; no one else! I can’t MAKE you feel anything using only words and symbols; only YOU can. You are responsible for your actions, speech, emotions, beliefs and consequences. Those who do not stringently verify the “facts” presented to them, will reap those consequences. It is not anyone’s responsibility to “save” you from yourself. It is all YOURS.
- Because I believe in the Constitution of the UNITED STATES of America; I do not need to change or shame anyone or anything in our history. History is not fluid! It is a significant part of what makes each person, family, town, county, state, country, and, indeed, the entire world; what it is today. History is the greatest teaching tool available to mankind. Through pictographs & through story telling, right up to today’s digital media; throughout all of time, mankind has understood the importance of preserving the historical record. Preserving, not rewriting, not hiding, not destroying.
- Because unity does not mean that everyone will agree with me. It does not mean that everyone will like me. It does not mean that I will never find something offensive. It does not mean I will never find something hateful. It does not mean that everyone’s feelings must always be everyone else’s responsibility. (Your feelings are your own, so own them, control them, and do not impose them upon others without permission. The vast majority do not give a rat’s ass about your feelings; they have their own lives to live.) Because unity does not mean that feelings supercede our guaranteed Constitutional Rights, EVER.
- Because unity means we are all afforded those rights guaranteed in the Constitution. Not just the people who agree with me. Not just the people who all think the same thoughts. THAT is the unity of America. That we are ALL guaranteed the rights to freedom. We are not guaranteed the right to be unoffended. We do not have to be part of a particular “hyphenated-American” group, groupthink, groupspeak or collective to exercise those rights.
- Because, guess what? We do not all have to be the same to be Americans. Kind of crazy to have to even write this. Stepford Wives or Borg Collective anyone?
- Because diversity, particularly diversity of thought, is not just a word to be bandied about only for those who all believe exactly the same.
- Because the United States was founded on Freedom; not political correctness, not unoffensiveness, not feelings. Freedom.

BECAUSE THE GREATEST EXPRESSION OF OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION IS TO BE ABLE TO FLY A CONFEDERATE BANNER AND HONOR A CONFEDERATE SOLDIER WITHOUT GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP.
Think about that as you sip your liability warning encased hot cocoa while wearing your imported child labor made from renewable resources clothing and eating your non-gmo worm ridden, bug infested “organically” produced apple on the way to your safe space Play Doh trauma group in your child labor mined battery powered Tesla.
Then, thank the racist patriarchal misogynistic islamaphobic Forefathers of this great country for having the foresight to protect you (and all of us), from yourself; even if you are “offended” by their very existence.
THAT is why I proudly exercise MY Constitutional Right to fly the Battle Flag of the Confederacy.
