I’m not surprised by this but it still makes me sick. The vitriol and bigotry pouring out in reaction to Ratajkowski’s expression in support of Bernie is not just creepy but also frightening. The choice of words is a big part of the problem. “Kike”???? I’m a lapsed Catholic and that word stabs me! I could go on (breast obsession, fallacy that beauty and brains are incompatible in a single human being…), but to what end? I don’t want to give the trolls more food for trolling. A closing note: As a friend and supporter of women’s reproductive rights advocate and all-around righteous badass Lizz Winstead (incidentally, another woman who’s guilty of being beautiful and smart), I am all to familiar with the hate that spews forth in reaction to any expression that runs into traditionally right-wing territory. Winstead needs police protection to keep her safe from anti-abortion kooks. The very least that we can give Ratajkowski is our heartfelt thanks and admiration for speaking out in support of someone and something she believes in.
