As a marketer my friends always turn to me for Marketing advice.

So I decided to write a letter to all my friends who are starting their dream business.

I believe in giving back and supporting the dreams of my friends.

And if you know me Personally, Professionally or just got introduced to my content.

I want you to know that the advice I’m about to share is tried, tested, and proven to work.

If you stay disciplined and have patience you can definitely make it work.

Now…

I’ll assume that you don’t know anything about Digital Marketing…

So therefore I’ll try to keep this as simple as possible.

With that being said let’s get this thing started.

There are 2 things that you need to understand to do online marketing for your business.

Free Marketing

Paid Marketing

I’ll tell you about the difference in a bit

But first know this.

There is a business side to your marketing as well…

  • How you do business.
  • How well you know your product.
  • How well you know your customers.

Understand your business and find out ways how well you can position yourself.

Find a key difference and a good value proposition about your product or service.

This is important to know because if your product is shit no matter how good you market it. You will always struggle.

With that being said.

Let’s get back to Marketing side.

You are about to discover something truly valuable.

Marketing Without the Price Tag

The name says it all

This is a type of marketing that you do for free with no advertising spend however there’s one catch..

It demands a significant investment of time and consistent effort to see results.

With the right strategies you can grow but be prepared for a slower pace.. It will not get you thousands of views in a matter of days. Yes it will get to that level eventually.

However you will need to stay patient and discipline with your efforts.

On the other hand we have

On the flip side, we have Paid Marketing.

This is when you spend $$$ on advertising your business.

For instance

You pay Meta ads to send traffic (People) to your business. Or you pay Google ads to get that top spot for your business and that way you get more eyeballs seeing your business.

What I’ll be telling you in this article can be applied to both Free and Paid marketing.

Stick with me, because the best insights are yet to come.

What to do before launching your Business

This part is a real eye-opener

I see many businesses start to think about marketing after they’re in the market for a while.

But the truth is you have to start marketing before even starting your business.

As you put together your business plan and are committed to launch your business. That’s the right time to start marketing…

This is what we as Marketers call The Pre-launch Marketing.

It’s putting the word out there that you are coming with an amazing product or service.

You let your social media friends know about what’s coming.

It is as simple as uploading your family picture to Instagram.

For example

You have plans to launch your business in the next 2 months. You start posting about it on your social media profile today.

Build a Facebook page and an Instagram profile and start posting images of the process and how it’s going…

You know what?

You can even get more creative: you can collaborate with a local small influencer.

This is just to put that seed in the people’s mind that something new is coming to the town.

Just like Casper the Mattress company.

They created content that spoke about the poor sleep problems and how their product can solve it. They used PR and social media marketing to create buzz.

The results?

Sold $1 Million worth of mattresses in the first 28 days.

You see, the pre-marketing launch done right can do extremely well for your business.

But you need to be creative…

You can even take an exclusivity approach just like Spotify did with their Pre-launch. They created an invite only beta release, which made people eager to join the platform as it was exclusive.

By the time they officially launched they already had users waiting.

The result?

It was an instant hit.

In a Nutshell

Create buzz around your business and make people count the days to your launch.

If you don’t have any good ideas.
