The Pomodoro Challenge:#Accepted

Procrastination is a technique of delaying things until last minute. It is originated from latin’s "procrastinare", that translates into : the prefix pro-, 'forward’, and suffix -crastinus, 'till next day' from cras, 'tomorrow’).In simple words,it is the avoidance of facing reality and the delay in doing a task that needs to be accomplished.
Unfortunately most of us are procrastinators in one way or another .Some face procrastination in work ,some in study, and some in personal life.I am a procrastinator too.I delay my homeworks(those subjects which do not interest me at all) until the last minute. Sometimes I want to do them before hand but my mind come up the astonishing ideas ,to complete them on time.I always wanted to overcome this habit.
Recently I was doing a course on how to become productive (Amal Academy), I came across pomodoro challenge.

If you do not know pomodoro challenge, let me give you its brief introduction. Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in 1980s.The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. These intervals are named pomodoros, the plural in English of the Italian word pomodoro(tomato), after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student(Source:Wikipedia)
I took this challenge . I decided to do an online course:How to become the Most Valuable Team Player. Usually I do one course in smaller chunks but yesterday I wanted to see the effectiveness of Pomodoro. So I decided to complete this course in one go.It had 3 sections.I started the course at 10:pm .I was able to do it in only 1 hour and 40 minutes. It is my personal best ,often I do one course in 3 to 4 hours but it was quite astonishing for me too.I was really impressed by the effectiveness of Pomodoro.I completed the course in 5 sessions of 25 minute each.Following were the distractions i faced:
- During first session:My mobile was in other room.I constantly thought about it.
- During second session:I tried to open facebook.
- In the third session,I became completely indulged myself in the course, now I was competing too.My goal was to end second section before the timer runs out again.
- During the fourth session:The course had my undivided attention and I did not take break between fourth and fifth session.I wanted to complete the course and I did.Yay I achieved my goal with a personal best of 1 hour 40 minutes.
I have a confession to make,I wrote this blog also as a pomodoro challenge . I am finishing my blog and left with 60 seconds.
It is very useful technique. It puts you in competition with yourself.
Sorry time ran out.I need to go now and take a break.
Hope it helps. 🙂.
