Mumbai’s Best Red Velvet Desserts
If love was edible, it’d probably taste a lot like red velvet desserts. The silken textured, peppy coloured desserts have been taking the city by storm for a while now. From the traditional cakes to other not-so-traditional options, we’ve seen it all.
Mumbai Foodie presents a list of patisseries and bakeries that offer the best red velvet desserts in the city.
- Cakes
This one was super hard to decide on but we let The Sassy Spoon and Country of Origin take the cake, quite literally. Rachel Goenka’s take on red velvet is called ‘sassy stacks’ and is served with cappuccino foam and raspberry caviar! Country of Origin also offers a super moist version. Go check them both out!
2. Cupcakes
Cupcakes are just cute little cakes and chef Kainaz knows how to do them right. Theobroma most certainly wins with its red velvet cupcakes. We have a co-star here too. Toujours has won the heart of all velvet lovers with its super moist cupcakes.
3. Frozen Yoghurt
Yogurt bay sells the city’s beloved with a scoop of fresh yoghurt. If yoghurt is your thing, you must check these guys out!
4. Waffles
Francesco’s Pizzeria offers happy little waffles made of red velvet batter. These have been fawned upon (read drooled upon) by critics and foodies alike.
5. Cheesecakes
LSD and Onesta have some mean red velvet cheesecake up for sale. Of course, a lot of patisseries across the city claim to make great RV cheesecakes, but Mumbai Foodie thinks that these deserve to be labeled as one of the best.
6. Brownies
Pooja Dhingra does a amazing job when it comes to red velvet and we had a tough time deciding which category to place Le15 in. We finally concluded that the ‘cheesecake brownies’ were the best of their kind.
7. Milkshakes
Boston Cupcakery blends RV with ice cream and whips up some kickass milkshake! This unique concept most certainly deserves a try.
8. Cronuts
Get yourself this Red Velvet Cronut from Tart in Bandra. Cronuts are a cross between croissants and donuts and is pretty addictive once you sink your teeth in.
9. Pancakes
Ellipsis and Love and Cheesecake both offer delicious pancakes with a rouge twist. Melt in the mouth and mind blowing with a dash of whipped cream!
10. Choux
Bun Men makes choux buns with an oozy red velvet center. Choux being the versatile pastry the it is, gets along with red velvet like a house on fire.
We hope to have covered all your favourite desserts. Now go on and add all of these to your red velvet bucket list. Keep eating and stay happy! Do drop us a line and let us know if you’d like us to include any other kind of red velvet dessert in our list!
