The Bee Who Came for Tea

Once upon a lockdown time

There were three little boys

Stuck in the house with their mum and dad

And bored with all their toys

The strangest of times some may say

To stay at home saves lives

The days and hours faded away

As the bees buzzed around in their hives

The sun was shining as they sat down to eat

And their chitter chatter was usually loud

But someone joined them in the opposite seat

Even though visitors wasn't allowed

The boys, they froze and move- they wouldn't dare

As they stared at their guest on the opposite chair

With a bit of a buzz he rubbed his hands

And patiently waited for some food

His black and yellow jacket was bold and grand

He didn't mean to be so rude

As he buzzed to tell them about his busy day

The children sat there shaken

He danced and as he started to sway

He thought he might be mistaken

His tummy rumbled and he had to stop

As he buzzed he tried to explain

His wings grew heavy and started to flop

And he buzzed to tell them again

As he looked down he saw his prize

And helped himself with glee

His gloomy wings began to rise

And stood proud was the MANCHESTER BEE

The boys, they were no longer afraid

As they had made a new friend

For the rest of the tea he stayed

Before the flowers he'd attend

It was soon time for him to leave

And he had so much fun

For he'd taught the children and achieved

We must stand together as one. 🐝🐝🐝
