Also, fwiw, the image of the ship was not “drawn from life,” and the artist probably never sailed. Notice that the flags are flying toward the stern, as on a modern engine-powered ship, not toward the prow, as they did on sailing ships driven by wind. It’s a common error to represent sailing ships this way, with the wind filling the sails but somehow not affecting the flags.
