MusicPromoToday Lists 5 Musicians That Have Successfully Crossed Over to the World of Fashion

Music and fashion have always been intertwined. Music seems to sound better when a fashionista is creating it and fashion seems to look better when models are strutting it to a killer track. Nowadays, this relationship has deepened with artists actually becoming designers themselves. Have a look below at some shapeshifters who are making noise in both the fashion and music industry.

KANYE WEST

Number one on our list is none other than Jesus himself, sorry I meant Yeezus. Kanye West has been collaborating with Adidas since 2013, but the official launch of Yeezy was in 2015. With 6 seasons under his belt, Kanye has already made a huge name for himself in the fashion industry. Being married to the most famous family on earth surely helped in the making of this multi-million dollar empire. What better way to save on marketing, than to have your wife advertise your creation to her 116 MILLION followers on Instagram. Add to that the rest of the Kar/Jenner bunch, and it’s no surprise that sales are skyrocketing for Kayne.

A$AP ROCKY

Rappers have pushed basketball players aside as the new brand ambassadors for luxury. Back in the day, basketball players ruled the fashion scene with their high-level brand partnerships. Today, rappers are in high demand due to their unprecedented influence and audience numbers. A$AP may have once claimed “I would never want to be a fashion designer” but it looks like he’s been swayed. Over the years A$AP has designed and collaborated with J.W Anderson, Gucci, Guess, and Dior Homme.

RIHANNA

Rihanna surely has “Money on (her) mind” with all the new projects that she’s been launching over the past couple of years. From makeup, to lingerie, to socks, Rihanna has had her face all over the fashion world. Recently working with Puma,Rihanna created a top-selling design that was sold out within days of its launch. She also spearheaded her own lingerie designs in partnership with Savage x Fenti, a brand with a platform to empower fierceness in women.

BEYONCE

Queen B is a self made business woman who keeps inspiring people around the world. Besides being an international superstar/goddess, Beyonce is a smart woman who knows how to turn her fame into endless cash. Being a fitness and health fanatic, Beyonce launched a sports wear collection called IVY PARK. Named after her first-born and featuring the gold touch of Beyonce, this collection skyrocketed to success within weeks of its launch.

JUSTIN BIEBER

Nothing screams genius like Justin Bieber’s tour merch turned clothing line. His metal-inspired collaboration with Fear Of God designer Jerry Lorenzo kick-started the current craze for band merch, now used by everyone from Drake to Zayn. Justin made a fortune from selling these pretty simplistic designs. But if Justin says it’s fashionable, you best believe people will buy it. The line sold out in just a few weeks.

Today’s creative world is more fluid than it’s ever been. With actors as musicians, musicians as designers, designers as tattoo artists, crossing creative outlets is becoming the norm. By finding interesting ways to express your creativity through music and fashion your possibilities are wider to explore your artistry and (hopefully) to grow your bank account. Dabble in your interests, take risks, and most importantly build your brand.
