As your band improves; as your professionalism, song repertoire, and number of fans grow, it may be time to begin the subsequent steps in the process: letting the world know you exist. The thing is, band promotion has been constantly changing over time, and so you have to keep up with the latest trends.
First, you should know everything about your band and brand, how to describe it in a couple of sentences, your genre, your influencers, your story. This becomes your pitch. Think about your band name, logo, and identity. Does it really go with your brand, is it memorable? If not, adjust it.

Next, create and develop your social media sites for your music promo. A strong presence is a must for any up-and-coming band. Make your posts interesting and relevant. Include pictures, personal bios, like and follow other bands you’re interested in; and don’t forget to update! Maintain your accounts! Once you gain fans and followers, it would be a waste to lose them. So aim for a post a day or at least a couple of posts a week about upcoming events with your pictures, or interesting things going on in the lives of band members. Keep the posts upbeat and read and respond to fan comments and posts.

Next, create a website or blog.
Social media is great, but to show how official and professional you are, you need a website solely dedicated to your band. There are a number of services online designed to help create low-cost web pages. Make sure to create an email list, along with the website to be able to send out information and announce all your upcoming shows.

This whole process, of creating and updating your online presence, can be both a time-consuming and highly-creative process. So you may want to consider hiring a content-manager or signing up with a music PR firm. Such services will help you with your music distribution, publishing, advertising, P.R., marketing, branding, and graphic design. Especially when new, starting with such services professionally may really give you a boost in the industry. Just make sure to look at samples of their work before making a choice of which agency to work with and make them fully understand the image you’re aiming to achieve.
