David ‘Nasty C’ Ngcobo, the influence his lyricism has added in the growth of South African hip hop is extraordinary and he’s only 20 years old. His rhyme scheme catches you by surprise on every song he works on. Earlier this year he went onto Sway’s Universe and delivered a freestyle that explained to us why the Jiggy Jigga is running the show in this country.

The purple umbrella lyricist released his first professional studio album on the 13th of September 2016.

The album titled Bad Hair had a very interesting cover. It is a picture of Nasty C compiled of pictures of women. The album has 15 songs and it all accumulates to 56 minutes.

  1. Inspiration

Nasty C kicks us off with a short voice clip which is an interview between Sliqour and Cassper at the Castle Lite Republic of Extra Cold Experience and Cassper tells Sliqour what we all believe, Nasty inspired all your favourite rappers.

2. Please (Interlude)

The first thing Nasty explains on this album is that no one can tell him what he can or cannot do. I do not know if his intention was deeper than he really meant but the opening line didn’t correlate with his first topic since he tells us that you cannot tell him what to do but he is telling his bae that she should hide her breasts and tells his side that he’s not impressed, the nudes aren’t satisfying, he wants to see more. The song is basically Nasty explaining that he’s willing to do anything for the money.

“I would Shmurda for this money like my name was Bobby”

3. Check feat Erick Rush

This song explains to us that Nasty has collected a lot of money since his blow up, his neck almost broke when he checked his bank account and the money had clocked. He goes in depth and explains to us about how it all happened and how he handled it.

4. I Lie feat Tshego

The title of the song indicates to us that there are lies being told here. Nasty explains all the different methods that guys use to get a girl to come over Netflix, chill and smoke doobies. They tell you they love you but all they want is for you to come over and do the Nasty. They Lie. Tshego has a background ad-lib running on the chorus and his verse explains a little of the capabilities of a man out to get a woman he wants and how his main objective is to finesse and bounce.

5. Don’t Do It Feat Telleman

Our parents told us not to drink and to never touch drugs because it is all a trap. Nasty goes on to warn us about these actions as though he is our father. People will influence you into doing things that you know are bad for you so don’t fall into the temptation. This all means that Nasty should have listened to his father and not tried all the things he is doing now because they are an addiction he can’t handle anymore and because he knows his name carries a lot of weight he is warning kids that they should listen to their parents. What a good role model.

6. Squad Goals

Nasty wants to achieve everything he desires with his friends beside him.

7. Overload Feat Telleman

The night out starts with Nasty picking up his girl at her crib and her dad is watching her leave the house and Nasty acts as though he is on the phone to avoid eye contact with the father who is watching his little girl hurrying up to get into an overloaded car full of boys who just want to spoil her future and demolish his baby girl. Telleman comes in and tells us that he’s really addicted to this girl he is describing, she is a drug for him and he wants more of her.

8. Problems Feat Erick Rush

Nasty vents on this song explaining to us that he smokes because he is not handling all the problems and the pressures of having fame and all the money, girls and family troubles. He’s unable to handle all of this and hopes that one day it will all go away without him going broke.

More Money More Problems.

9. Pressure

This song reminds us that Nasty has a lot of pressure, he might become a one hit wonder and that is the last thing he wants. He came into this game young and his come up was so quick he didn’t get a chance to learn what he should stay away from and what real friends are. He experiences a lot in this song, the pain, drugs, girls etc. He is alone in all of this despite having a team, they do not know what he is going through.

“They told me to open up more I told them file damaged”

10. Good Girls and Snapchat Hoes

Good girls stay home and keep their fingers on their phones and bad girls are always at some place posting their wonderful experiences with bottles everywhere on the table they are sitting at and entertaining different men who call them an uber after every happy ending. This song is dedicated to the women who might not get a ring because they have not been patient enough to follow the 7th commandment.

11. Hell Naw

This is the song that kids in primary were singing to, this song speaks for itself. Let me shed some light on the last part of the song. Nasty C likes to play with his fans as it seems, the last part of the song deserved to be a full song on its own, he released a video prior to the album which was a snippet for the coming project he was about to unleash. We all expected it to be a standalone song David.

12. Forget feat Erick Rush

Nasty lost his mom before she could see the success he had obtained. He highlights how it’s painful to have grown without creating memories with her that he could have saved in his memory bank. He goes on and explains that drugs and alcohol are helping him forget the pain. The 20-year-old didn’t have enough time to spend with the person he works the hardest for but I’m sure he believes she’s proud of him and she is in his heart. His biggest fan is in his heart and he will continue to make her proud.

13. 25 feat Telleman

This song has a slightly faster tempo of the Ying Yang Twins’ popular song Wait (The Whisper Song). Nasty has a lot to achieve before he turns 25. He tells us that he will achieve everything he desires by 25 and he will have signed his idol by that time.

14. Vent

This isn’t the type of venting you would expect. Nasty C isn’t complaining he’s praising, enjoying and loving his life with his squad. He’s flossing his expensive grills with a strand of silk and washing his mouth with milk. He is momentarily happy when he thinks of his accomplishments.

15. Phases Feat Rowlene

The project is summarized with a mellow song that describes the love Nasty has for a particular female he used to hustle juice money for, just to take her to groove. He uses a lot of word play on this song as he describes her as a drug and says he sees her like an actual angel but he was probably high on angel dust when he saw her glowing with a hallow above her head. Love makes us see things in a different way. We can tell that the chemistry between him and Rowlene on this song makes him really appreciate this woman he speaks, he is speaking from his heart.

After hours of discussion with friend’s we concluded that Nasty C is explaining that he is lonely, hurt and using drugs, alcohol and women to help him numb the pain. The album is a masterpiece but we also expected a few new mainstream songs.
