The Cheesecake Factory Video Is Not a Skit. It Is a Dangerous Hoax That Perpetuates Harmful Stereotypes About Black Women

Sadly, a Black Woman participates in the demonization of black women

A few days ago, a black woman posted a video of what she claimed was a bad first date. In the video, the woman is in a car with a (non-black) Hispanic man. They are at the parking lot of a Cheesecake Factory.

The woman refuses to go into the restaurant, saying she will not go to The Cheesecake Factory on a first date. She says she is too beautiful to go to such a cheap restaurant. She asks him to take her to a fancier restaurant. He refuses and says if she doesn’t want to go to the Cheesecake Factory, then the date will be over.

The two continue to go back and forth. And through this back-and-forth, we come to understand that the man had actually made a reservation at a nice restaurant but the woman showed up late and the restaurant canceled the reservation. So, now they had to go The Cheesecake Factory.

The woman still continues arguing. She is belligerent and overall obnoxious.

The video went viral. It trended on Tik Tok, where it was first posted. It also trended on Twitter and even Instagram.
