Social Media Story
The evolution of technology has had a tremendous impact on society as we know it. Art is not the same. Communication is not the same. And, neither is news consumption. Many people consume their news on social media and other online sources. Because of this, as reporters it is necessary that we adapt to this. To gain practice in this, for my I was put on a “Social Media Scavenger Hunt” where the main objective was to compile a specific set of things into a story on Twitter. Here are the tweets
Doing this assignment, I learned the importance of on the spot reporting and creativity. Given the list, I was able to create a thread of tweets that told a story about SUNY Oswego and everything that makes the campus unique. The tweet that caught the most attention was how diverse the Oswego campus is becoming. It was retweeted many times and received a few likes as well.
This assignment was very eye opening because it taught me how important being able to use anything to tell a story is to being a journalist in modern society.
