“You can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do”
Henry Ford spoke humbly, but truthfully about success. His thoughts on what create a successful person, business, and life are as beautifully simple as they are sharply true.
“Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits”
I may hold the crown for being the guy who always had plans for something he was “going to do” even if he hadn’t followed through on the last idea he planned to try. Half of my plans I half assed, while the other half never got enough of my time to become legitimate. I have spent too long thinking about what the correct action to take is, and have ended up hardly taking any action at all. I recognized this flaw about a year and a half ago, but it became something I was “going to take care of” instead of something I am “taking action on now”.
I am not referring to one single event, idea or plan in my life, but the events, ideas, and plan for my life. My ambitions for these three pieces of life have always been very high while my skills in execution remained static, I know, call me a dreamer. Although I may be late to the party, I know it is better than never showing up. I am dedicating myself to following through on the ideas and plans I believe in. I will become the man I want to be and create the life I want to live. I will be a man who “does” instead of a man who is “going to do”.
“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”
