Games will be at the forefront of that seismic change. We see a thrilling future where AI agents revolutionize gaming in web3. Imagine them breathing life into metaverses with dynamic NPCs and Avatars, or navigating complex game economies for players. Picture players crafting their own game versions or plug-ins using natural language. The gaming world is about to get a whole lot more exciting with AI.
But today Web3 games are stuck in two failure modes. One where onchain elements are superficial, resulting in games that neither leverage the full power of blockchains nor are competitive with their Web2 counterparts. Another is crypto-native games that fall short of their promise because existing infrastructure cannot support their ambitious visions.
What we need is a blockchain stack that continuously evolves in response to the fast-changing requirements of game projects exploring frontier AI technologies. We need an AI gaming chain.
Nim Network is a highly-adoptable AI Gaming chain that will provide the ultimate ecosystem for exploration and development of games at the intersection of Web3 and AI.
Who We Are
Nim is the result of a three-year journey by our team into the realms of gaming and deep-tech cryptography. The goal has always been to create unprecedented onchain experiences by experimenting with the most cutting-edge technologies, During this period, we collaborated with our partners to address challenges, supporting gaming projects that collectively valued over $50 million in portfolio assets. We are grateful for the valuable insights from our partners, which include research entities such as Geometry and Starkware, and capital partners like Bitkraft, 1kx, Fabric Ventures, Delphi, Lemniscap, Big Brain Holdings, Wicklow Capital, and Chapter One among others.
We build our deep underwriting in the space through investing and collaborating with some of the leading projects in gaming and infrastructure including: Cartridge, STORYVERSE, Citadel, Metafight, ggQuest, Focus Tree, Mithraeum, MINTERS, Avnu, DYAD, NousResearch, a leader in open-source AI, and most importantly, Dymension that is unlocking a modular composable future to enable us to fulfill our vision.
The core members and contributors hail from some of the biggest Web3 projects, including Ethereum Foundation, Polygon Labs, Uniswap Foundation, Starknet Foundation, AI Research and more. The team’s combined experience ranges from software development and research to investment and entrepreneurship.
AI Gaming Coalition
Building Web3 games is incredibly expensive, both in time and cost, But there are things that are being entirely neglected, At Nim, we have a different philosophy in game building, We focus on technology that breathes life into the games we play, We don’t focus just on TPS, We utilize AI to build immersive worlds, dynamic characters, and engaging dialogue, In pursuit of this vision, we’re forming the AI gaming coalition, partnering with leading games such and key infrastructure players all warped by the best crypto AI technology constantly improved by open source groups. Creating the perfect blend of the best AI tech, the best games with an ever evolving gaming chain.
The coalition will play an important role in making Nim a self-sustaining and evolving ecosystem powered by the $NIM token. As each new joining member brings its own set of unique blockchain requirements, NIM Network will respond by adding new functionality. The continuously expanding scope of use cases that can be accommodated makes the chain more attractive to successive entrants, driving the growth flywheel. Value generated by projects will accrue to all ecosystem participants — stakers, users, builders, and partners. But more on that at a later post.
Unleashing AI Agents
AI agents, powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and Machine Learning (ML) models, can understand and complete tasks similar to humans. These agents are trained on extensive datasets and can be utilized in various applications. We envision AI agents as a universal interface for blockchains, acting as a bridge between users and on-chain applications. They serve as extensions of users, fulfilling their intent and operating autonomously until completion, these agents can be seen as highly sophisticated, personalized digital assistants.
AI Agents are highly adaptable and can be customized to achieve any given task in a variety of use-cases. We envision a future where AI agents play a significant role in web3, especially in the gaming sector. These agents could populate metaverse and digital worlds with NPCs and Avatars, or actively participate in the game economy on behalf of players, simplifying the complexities of rich game economies. We also see AI as the ultimate tool for user-generated content, allowing players to design their own game versions or create plug-ins using natural language and friendly interfaces.
Unlocking these possibilities will require a lot of groundwork: scaling onchain games, funding and creating LLMs and AI models specialized for Web3 use cases, developing AI agent frameworks, developing systems for onchain verification, and designing a smart contract layer to integrate games and applications.
The future of gaming lies in robust and extensive alliances across the stack. This includes infrastructure companies, specialized AI models, compute providers, and most importantly, talented game and application builders with the potential to explore and experiment with cutting-edge technology and new primitives.
Iterating at the Speed of the Internet
To make the future of onchain AI possible, NIM is addressing some of Web3’s most-pressing issues: fragmentation, poor user experience, and lack of fast iterations. The introduction of the modular stack has solved the blockchain scaling problem while at the same time fracturing the future Internet. NIM’s goal is to bridge the gap between existing infrastructure and fully-fledged consumer applications.
Among NIM Network’s core values are the concepts of fast iteration and feedback loops, allowing it to evolve at the speed of the Internet. NIM will be a highly-customizable EVM layer built on top of Dymension, positioning itself as Web3’s experimental lab. The NIM EVM layer and its supporting primitives will continually adapt to host constantly evolving applications, with a focus on the following components:
- Creating Specialized AI Crypto Models: Leading AI models like ChatGPT, Mistral, and Gemini are not designed to handle crypto and gaming-related tasks. They have been primarily trained on popular text, code, and math domains. This is a significant obstacle for AI adoption in games and crypto. Open-source customized AI models will unlock the true potential of AI Gaming. We’re working on creating unparalleled AI gaming solutions, powered by custom-made AI models. These models have undergone extensive adaptations to serve as the building blocks for a variety of applications and use cases.
- The best UX for integrating AI agents as first class citizens: AI-powered interfaces are the key to improving user experience in Web3 by abstracting the complexity of interacting with blockchains. Implementing AI agents onchain will require a number of adaptations to the standard EVM, such as account abstraction and support of new verification methods. The problem is that implementing changes on existing EVM chains is difficult. As a highly customizable EVM layer built on top of Dymension, NIM Network offers maximum flexibility that positions it as Web3’s research lab for new standards and ERC versioning.
- Identity > wallet address: An ecosystem of games and applications powered by AI requires new standards for onchain identity. AI game agents can vary from avatars to NFT characters, each with its own preferences, goals and rich history of onchain and offchain activity. The Agent ID will be a powerful tool for incentivizing and designing agent applications.
- Provable compute is all you need. We live in an era of pervasive computing, but most of it happens offchain. NIM Network unlocks a new generation of onchain integration by letting applications bridge their data using ZK verification without compromising on UX. We believe verifiable compute is one of the most powerful ways to bring agents and games onchain in a scalable manner
- Unlocking a multichain future for AI agents: The true power of AI agents is only unlocked when they can explore and move seamlessly between different environments. NIM Network is powered by Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC), a very fast and reliable way to bridge assets and data across chains. IBC messaging allows other RollApps to communicate with NIM primitives and agents as if they were actually deployed on their chain, establishing NIM Network as an agent hub.
