The Second you
About why people are weird, pink glasses and imbalance in psychological state
Every one of us have different wold views, different opinion on everything and different reaction to occurrences. In this blog post I would like to talk about the difference in reactions we have to events that occur in our lives: some people behave like they don’t care and some people are very sensitive to everything that surrounds them.
The thing is that we create the second person, the second ‘you’, who lives in a parallel fiction universe. The universe that is similar to the real life of ours, but interpreted in a different more pleasing way. This second ‘you’ decides how to interpret this or another event occurring with you in the real life in a less traumatic and painful for you way.
There are some research in psychology on this topic, and in academic circles they call it ‘seeing the world through the pink glasses’. There is nothing wrong with it, we all do it to dismiss unnecessary worries.
I assume that’s why some people seem weird to us when they make inappropriate joke, say something out of context or behave differently from the majority — they are being in their universe when they do that. Since no one knows what kind of universe they have, obviously their actions are interpreted differently.
The problem with this is that people get so comfortable with their universes, that they use them to get away from serious real world troubles that need to be addressed directly, rather than be ignored. And as a result, as it often happens, real world troubles eventually get you in your small fiction universe and you start having imbalance in your psychological system, which leads to shrink or even ‘yellow wall establishment’.
Point is — use your pink glasses wisely and don’t get too enclosed in your beautiful universe.
