The Coffee Shop Titans of Gainesville
By Brooklyn Carey
Coffee shops are sanctuaries for those of us who still want to be antisocial, but also feel guilty about spending a third day alone in the dark corners of our room, chuckling under our breaths at a meme on the Swampy UF Memes facebook page. I have searched far and wide in the Gainesville city limits for some of the best coffee shops in the ‘ville. Here are some of my favorite coffee shops in Gainesville, in no particular order.
1.For those of you who want to stay close to campus: Pascals Coffeehouse is where you can study and lounge. All you have to do is cross University right where Library West is and you are in a blissful study environment complete with couches and a fireplace for those cold December days.
2.For those who are willing to make the drive from campus for quality coffee, Curia On the Drag is a relaxing study cove that is vegan friendly!
3.Downtown is the social hub, just a hop away from Bo-Diddly Plaza is Wyatt’s Coffee, enjoy affogato on a hot, Florida afternoon, or sit at the coffee bar and people watch. Wyatt’s is the newest addition to Gainesville coffee houses and is a welcomed treat!
4.A downtown classic is, of course, Volta Coffee. Meet the coffee joint that many argue is the best coffee shop in town! Not into coffee? They also have a selection of tea!
5.Like to eat organic? Karma Cream is the sweet shop in the sweet spot between the University and downtown. They offer lactose free ice cream in addition to their selection of nicely brewed coffee.
I hope that you found this list helpful! I have had so many cups of coffee these past couple of days that I can see color and taste sound- I am eagerly awaiting the caffeine crash.
