Spanish Computer Science Society Honors NTENT CTO Dr. Ricardo Baeza-Yates with Research Award

NTENT Chief Technology Officer Dr. Ricardo Baeza-Yates

NTENT Chief Technology Officer Dr. Ricardo Baeza-Yates was presented with the Ángela Ruiz Robles Award by the Scientific Information Society of Spain (SCIE), sponsored by the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) Foundation, for his excellent work in the industrial research & technology transfer category. The society honored Dr. Baeza-Yates for his contributions in computer engineering, job creation, market innovation and his dispense of high-quality knowledge. The award is named for Ángela Ruiz Robles, a Spanish teacher, trailblazer and inventor of the mechanical predecessor to the electronic book.

Dr. Baeza-Yates received Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de Chile, where he has served as a professor since 1985 and founded the Center of Web Research. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo. Since 2005, Dr. Baeza-Yates has also worked as a professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain, where he founded and directed the Web Research Group. He is an ACM and IEEE Fellow with over 500 publications, thousands of citations, multiple awards, several patents and has co-authored multiple books.
