But what if I told you there is an entirely new and different way to interact with a ‘map’? One that is driven by high-quality, crowdsourced imagery, so it is constantly improving? One that builds interactive applications on top of imagery to create an intelligent view of the world? One that anyone can contribute to, grow and discover?
Navigate Maps
This is what we are building at Navigate (NVG8). Navigate Maps — the first ever application built in the NVG8 ecosystem — allows users to create and explore a world map with utility that goes way beyond just ‘traditional’ navigation. By enabling people to contribute map data and build impactful applications on top of that data, Navigate Maps is building a destination for individuals, enterprises, and communities to gain a better understanding of our world.
You can think of Navigate Maps as a data explorer, one that not only provides you with high-quality imagery from contributors around the world, but also one that lets you visualize the world in an entirely new way — through the lens of the individuals who explore it everyday.
Looking past just traditional mapping features, Navigate Maps focuses on using this crowdsourced image data and putting it to some exciting use — like utilizing it as fuel for apps and features built on top of that data to help people improve decisions that are important to them. So by contributing imagery to Navigate Maps, you not only provide people a unique view of the world you see everyday, but you also improve the map and enable new applications for the world to use!

How To Contribute
There are two different ways to contribute imagery to Navigate Maps: with aerial imagery or street-level imagery.
If you fly your drone around town you can contribute to the Navigate Maps Aerial Data Vault, or just by using a dashcam, GoPro, or phone mounted in your car, you can contribute to the Street-Level Data Vault. Just like that you are helping power Navigate Maps!
Users can upload data to either of these vaults today at data.nvg8.io. Be sure to take a look at our Getting Started Guide and data requirements before each upload. All that’s left is contributing and earning rewards!
