ForkPay — settle any Bitcoin bill in the Altcoin of your choice

A new service benefiting the adoption of alternative digital currencies has recently been released — ForkPay.

ForkPay allows its users to pay any Bitcoin bill in their favorite crypto currency by using a browser-plugin based solution, which instantly converts your altcoin to Bitcoin at attractive rates. This is particularly useful for Altcoin holders who do not want to use a common crypto currency exchange. These exchanges often have the reputation of being unreliable, inconvenient and fraudulent or simply expect a myriad of information to fulfill their KYC duties.

How does the browser extension work?

ForkPay is striving to make their service as easy to use as possible and, in our humble opinion, succeeded with it. To download the Google Chrome browser extension visit ForkPay.net and click the download button. Afterwards, install the file and you are all set to start paying your bills!

Currently ForkPay supports 6 different Altcoins: NXT, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash, BitcoinDark and Peercoin. After clicking the ForkPay logo next to the recipient’s Bitcoin address you are able to choose the currency in which you want to settle the bill. The application will return to you a deposit address for the chosen Altcoin as well as the amount you have to deposit for the bill. Additionally, ForkPay provides you with a QR code which you can directly scan from the screen to save some more time.

In case you want to check the recipient’s Bitcoin address, Forkpay offers you the possibility to quickly open blockchain.info by clicking the corresponding button.

If you want to hide the ForkPay widget for a certain site, you are able to deactivate it in the application’s menu. A reactivation is possible by right-clicking and choosing the relevant option.

Is there a different possibility without having to download a program?

Yes, there is! Visit ForkPay.net, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find the interface for a payment directly through the website. The procedure is exactly the same as with the browser extension. ForkPay uses Coinomat’s API to process the transactions at reasonable rates.

What can we expect from ForkPay in the future?

As of now, the browser extension is only available for Google Chrome. However, a Firefox extension is already in the works and will be released soon. Other features on the roadmap are cashback programs for users, server-side plugins for merchants, a reverse plugin (merchants can be paid in fiat but receive crypto), and also the ability to settle credit card bills using crypto.
