NYC Mayor's Office

Each week, our Mayoral Photography Office sets out to document City Hall and New York City in the most interesting way possible, and this week they set out to document “City Hall in Your Borough: Queens”. Our Director of Photography Mike Appleton made a selection from over 300 photos filed, and we asked you to choose your fav:

The Mayoral Photography Office was out in full force #inQueens, with all three photographers, and our photography intern, shooting on a daily basis. During the week, the team shot and filed more than double the normal weekly average.

Aside from being a jam-packed week, City Hall in Your Borough offered the photography team a framework for projects featuring unique aspects of a single borough. Appleton spent a weekend afternoon photographing sports teams in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and stopped to take this week’s top pic(k). Moments like this are timeless slices of daily life for New York City and are important to diversify and deepen the historical context of the Mayoral photography archive. These moments often come down to good timing, good light, and the ability of the photographer to capture unscripted moments.
