Each week, our Mayoral photography team sets out to document City Hall and New York City in the most interesting way possible. Our photo editor, Joanna Graham, made a selection from the scores of photos filed last week and we asked you to choose your favorite:

This July Fourth classic got the most favs, making it last week’s top pic(k).

Every year on Independence Day, thousands of New Yorkers and foreigners alike flood the beaches and boardwalks of Coney Island.

Ben Kanter, who is interning with us, spent the early part of the day documenting the famous destination. “It was surreal how many people were in one place at one time,” he said. He had to move to a higher vantage point to show just how far back the sea of umbrellas stretched. “It was my second time ever going to Coney Island… it was even better to be there on a day where you saw the whole range of New York’s diversity on one beach.”
