College Affordability

This morning we held a press conference on several college affordability measures.

Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb emphasized how important this legislative package is to the future of our state.

“New York’s young men and women are our future leaders and innovators who will provide the foundation for our state’s success. Their hard work and creativity will bring them far; however, saddling them with tens of thousands of dollars in loans is unnecessary and counter-productive. The legislation proposed by our Conference will give our young people, and our state, a real opportunity to succeed.”

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis laid out several measures they sponsor to combat rising costs in college tuition.

Assemblyman Lupinacci started the press conference and laid out his legislative vision for reversing this trend.

Assemblywoman Malliotakis discussed her legislation to expand TAP to graduate students and increase the income eligibility threshold for TAP.

To close the press conference, Assemblyman Joseph Saladino strongly endorsed this legislative package.

Following the press conference, we were able to catch up with a few of our members.
