The Decorated Career of Misty May-Treanor

A former senior account specialist with PepsiCo, Nadia Bedricky earned a bachelor of science from Bowling Green State University and played on the school’s Division 1 volleyball team. Upon graduation, Nadia Bedricky played beach volleyball professionally with the EVP Tour.

No woman has accomplished as much in beach volleyball as Misty May-Treanor. Along with doubles partner Kerri Walsh-Jennings, the 39 year old won three consecutive Olympic gold medals. Only three other women have won more than one Olympic medal in the sport. The duo won their first gold medal at the Athens Games in 2004 on the heels of an 89-game win streak. They became repeat gold medalists four years later in Beijing after completing a 112-match win streak and beating the host Chinese in the Olympic finals. After a short period apart as teammates, May-Treanor and Walsh-Jennings joined forces again prior to the London Games in 2012 and beat fellow Americans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross in the finals.

Prior to her beach volleyball career, May-Treanor served as captain of Long Beach State, which, in 1998, became the first women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) volleyball team to go undefeated. She retired following the 2012 Olympic Games, having received numerous other accolades throughout her career, including Sportsperson of the Year and Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Most Outstanding Player.
