Morality is a Four-Letter Word in Alabama

Some voters just can’t admit they support Roy Moore, while others embarrass themselves with their inadequate and hypocritical statements of support.

This morning*, I was rushing back and forth with CNN in the background, and something caught my ear. One of CNN’s correspondents in Alabama talked about polls there. He said that it is likely that those that answer telephone polling calls could be lying, as they don’t want to face questions about their intent to vote for Roy Moore in the upcoming Senate race. He hearkened back to the 2016 Presidential election as well, right after the release of the Access Hollywood tape, which caught Donald Trump bragging about grabbing women by their private parts.

After that tape emerged, people who were called by pollsters seemed reluctant to admit whether they intended to vote for Trump. This “missing” Trump support was noted at the time. It was noted by Rasmussen Reports that Republicans were more reticent about saying who they intended to vote for than were Democrats. Those “stealth” Trump voters didn’t admit their preference, but it showed in the general election all right. So why on Earth would Trump voters want to hide that fact? (insert coy smile here)
