Julian had always enjoyed art, and as part of his artistic experimentation had been to a few life drawing classes before. When he saw the local university had started up a new life drawing class he decided to go along and check it out; it was a lot cheaper than the regular classes at the local museum!

The class was held in a room at the students union. When Julian got there he paid the couple of quid to attend, and found a seat. The room, which was normally a sort of lounge area adjacent to a bar, had been rearranged, with small chairs and sofas in a circle around a podium where the model would be posing. Taking a seat on one of the sofas Julian thought the atmosphere was immediately much more relaxed than the regular, and much more formal, life drawing classes he had been to before.

Other people gradually came into the room, mostly students of course, and almost all women. One of those coming in took a seat next to Julian on his sofa and got her materials ready. Julian and Kira quickly got talking; she was a media student, looking to work in TV eventually.
