A Hollowness Where Pride had Been

The ache that settles deep within,
A hollowness where pride had been.
I built a nest with love so warm,
Yet wings you grew to weather storm.

The paths you walk, so far from mine,
Leave tangled threads, a broken line.
The dreams I held, for you so bright,
Now cast in shadows, lost to sight.

Each harsh word cuts a deeper wound,
A love unspoken, never found.
The distance grows, a chilling space,
Yearning for warmth, a child’s embrace.

But love, like roots, runs strong and true,
It binds us still, in me, in you.
Through tears that fall, a silent plea,
For hearts to mend, for you to see.

For in this love, with all its pain,
A flickering hope might yet remain.
That bridges built, with open hands,
Can heal the hurt, in these barren lands.
