Stop listening to the shame gremlin

A few months ago I wrote a piece about the fear gremlin. Remember those small little buggers who run wild and cause so much destruction?
Today I want to tell you about the shame gremlin. Much like the fear gremlin, this little bugger will have to tied up and stuck for months, years and sometimes even your whole life.
I know this gremlin. I think we all know her. This is the one who speak into your mind when you want to do something brave. The narrative of her story is based on only two messages “Your not good enough” or “Who do you think you are?”.
She is going to try and keep you small, invisible and unseen for as long as she can because she cannot survive without your co-operation. When you buy into her shame story you are basically selling yourself to slavery of the worst kind.
You need to understand that she has been fed from when you were little and didn’t even understand language yet. So in order to change her narrative you have to start empowering yourself with the truth of who you are instead.
She will want to tell you that you are not beautiful enough. When this happens, look into the mirror and gently remind her that God only creates beauty

She will want to talk you out of doing that thing your heart is calling you to by messages of “Who do you think you are, you will never succeed”. When this happens gently remind her that you were created with purpose and God wouldn’t call you to something that He wasn’t prepared to support you with.

Shame cannot survive words being wrapped around her. If you can speak to her from a place of truth and self-compassion, she will start dying slowly but surely.
Stop listening to the shame gremlin. She’s had too much say over your life already. Start saying NO to her and YES to your true beautiful creative self instead.
