I am pleased to see you struggling with the so called “hard” problem of consciousness Martin.

Thanks for the heads up, I suspected as much. I included that idea mainly because many people, scientists especially included, seem to subscribe to it, and still, I felt adding at least a “maybe” was necessary.

I personally prefer the metaphor of brain being more of a receiver or an interface, like a TV, while consciousness, personality, soul, or whatever one wants to call it, is like a signal. It’s only a metaphor of course, no need to start installing makeshift tin foil antennae on one’s head, but it is not inconceivable or unscientific that even though brain is necessary to interface a mind with the reality, the phenomenon of consciousness may not originate inside of it.

My biggest bone to pick with neuroscience, apart from the whole philosophical zombie idea, is actually it’s potential to turn into legitimate form of necromancy pretty soon, after brain-machine interfaces are perfected. But that is a topic for another time. Always a pleasure seeing you respond. ;)
