What Does Age Discrimination Look Like?
Age discrimination can be so much more than just harassment. When many people think of discrimination, they think of people being called bad things because of their age and offense comments. However, with age discrimination there are other ways that companies and employers discriminate against people over the age of 42. Sometimes, the age discrimination is in the form of job elimination. A company will eliminate a position, but really they will just change the duties around a little bit and put younger, and cheaper, employees in charge of it. Sometimes when there are layoffs, employers will conveniently lay off significantly more older employers than younger employes. Also, things like mandatory retirement ages are illegal because they unfairly only target older workers and different people are able to work until different points of their lives without impact.
