6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ([a]definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7 And God’s peace [shall be yours…]

Philippians 4:6, 7

We as humans tend to worry a tremendous amount. We worry about the future, our society, careers, big decisions, and little misfortunes, and just about anything else you can name; worrying becomes such a part of life that we fail to see how detrimental worrying is for our spirits. Worry takes the place of thanksgiving, prayer, and petition and ultimately steals our peace and joy; it is the cause and effect relationship of not trusting God and of trying to grab hold and control of everything ourselves. It is natural to worry, but not mandatory; God says that when we make the conscious decision to give thanks, and to put our worries in His mighty hands that peace will be ours; it’s a promise we should cling to each and every day. It’s one thing for God to already know what you need, and another for you to tell Him; there is power in prayer and in coming before our Good Father and casting our worries to Him verbally. Let God remove the burden of anxiety from you today; receive His gift of peace and give Him thanks!
