You Are People & People Are You

A poem for children

If you’re lucky (and if you’re smart),
the people who will steal your heart
are weird and witty, shy and loud,
silly and senseless, smart and proud,
giving, loyal, both scared and brave,
and sometimes (mostly) well behaved.
Frank but gentle, bookish but wild,
sometimes mature but always a child. ;)

Like rivers, like skies, people will change!
They always make sense but still they are strange!
You love them for friendship and something to do,
you love them because you are them too.
