  1. How did the Renaissance impact the use of scientific principles and technological advancement ?

The Scientific advance during the Renaissance crossed into many fields. For example ; In medicine, Belgian physician Andreas Vesalius dissected cadavers and made numerous discoveries about human anatomy. The spirit of curiosity was also extended to exploration and navigation. Italian-Spanish navigator Christopher Columbus, English explorer Sir Francis Drake, and others made use of the latest inventions and discoveries in navigation, astronomy, and mathematics.Florentine artist Leonardo da Vinci united art with science in his studies of the structures and processes of nature, as well as in his designs for machines and mechanical devices. Some significant inventions during the Renaissance were the printing press, the compass and gunpowder. Moreover,The Renaissance contributed to the development of the scientific attitude and encouraged the people to accept the things only if they appealed to their reason. This scientific outlook gave a set back to blind faith and encouraged new discoveries and inventions which greatly contributed to the progress of human civilization.

2. What impact did the use of Science and Technology during the Industrial Revolution have on society ?

In the industrial Revolution was the period where major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport, and technology had a profound effect on the socioeconomic and cultural conditions. One of the impact that the use of science and technology have on society is the emergence of the factory system, for instance, radically changed not only the organization of work, but its very meaning in their culture. Huge complexes, job specialization, massive increases in productivity, regimentation, and eventually the assembly line all revolutionized the work experience for millions of people. For many, it meant substantial improvements in family income. For many others, the factory system meant the loss of craftsmanship and the de-skilling of the workforce. The reduction of work to the simplest, repetitive motions eliminated the mastery and personal satisfaction traditionally associated with labor, and often substituted unskilled for skilled workers.

3. What is Toeffler’s Third Wave theory and where do you think Thailand is in his suggested theory of change?

Toeffler’s Third Wave theory is the theory that shows how different of period of time have changed and it describes three types of societies, based on the concept of ‘waves’ — each wave pushes the older societies and cultures aside. For example; The First Wave is the settled agricultural society ,The second wave is Industrial Age society ,and the third wave is he Third Wave is the post-industrial society.

In my opinion, I would like to say that Thailand is in the Third wave , it is because that nowadays technology has become more important to our life and makes everything easier. For instance, we do not have to worry about the distance while working in different countries because we have laptops and it can be done anytime and anywhere.
