Time (My first attempt at free verse poetry)

It’s amazing how time works

I remember sitting at home watching my baby sitter

He was so old

He had a beard and his own car

He didn’t have a bed time

I wanted to be his age

I wanted to be him

Now, I’m lying on an air mattress

It’s well past my bedtime

And all I can think is

“I’m an adult now”

It doesn’t feel that way

In my mind I’m still that six year old boy

Watching my babysitter
