Cruz should take all of the energy he puts into trying to create economic destruction via default and put it into reining in the spending instead. That’s the place where the fight should happen, not over paying the debts once they’ve been agreed to. Quite frankly, we should get rid of the debt ceiling altogether and let the budget be the budget. But you don’t charge something to your card, take the item home, and then call the credit card company and ask to stop the payment.
