A good news from Saskatchewan province in Canada regarding the addition of new in-demand occupations to its existing list. Now, intermediate and lower-skilled workers in Saskatchewan can apply for PNP Saskatchewan and gain permanent residency through the Existing Work Permit stream.

An additional 279 occupations of TEER 4 and 5 are added to the list of in-demand list of jobs in Saskatchewan to reduce labor gaps. Now, the workers who will apply for the Existing Work Permit stream have to meet both stream-specific and general Saskatchewan PNP requirements.

In the past, the province only accepted PR applications for skilled workers who had experience under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 jobs and designated trades.

Who can apply?

Candidates with at least 6 months of experience in Saskatchewan in intermediate and lower-skilled occupations must meet the following requirements to get PR:

  • You must have a valid work permit.
  • You have to get an LMIA-approved work permit to work under TEER 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 occupations. Also get a francophone mobility work permit, or a Canadian Ukrainian Authorisation for Emergency Travel (CUAET) visa.
  • You must obtain an employment letter from a Saskatchewan employer, which should be permanent and full-time.
  • You must have at least 6 months of full-time work experience in the same job with the employer who has offered you an employment letter along with a work permit.
  • For TEER 4 and 5 workers, achieve a CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) of 4.
  • Secure an eligible licensure if your profession is regulated in Saskatchewan (if applicable).

Who cannot apply?

Here are the professions that have not been added and cannot be eligible for permanent residency:

  • Truck drivers
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Food and beverage servers
  • Graduates who are working in Saskatchewan with a PGWP
  • Refugee claimants claiming refugee status in Canada.

Steps to Apply through Existing Work Permit Stream

There is a huge labor gap in the Saskatchewan job market. If you are wondering “how to find jobs in Canada from India?” — simply apply for SINP. Now with added occupations, it may be easier for intermediate and lower-skilled workers to get jobs in the province.

Right now, Saskatchewan has over 16,000 vacancies — which you can find on job portals online. Further, it is estimated that more than 112,000 job vacancies will open over the next five years.

Follow the steps given below to apply for permanent residency in Saskatchewan through the Existing Work Permit stream:

Step 1: Gather documents

Here is a list of important documents you will need for the SINP application:

  • SINP Ethical Conduct Disclosure and Declaration form
  • Birth certificate
  • A valid passport
  • Saskatchewan licensure (if applicable)
  • Work experience
  • Language proficiency test (if TEER 4 or 5)
  • Employment offer letter
  • Work permit
  • IMM-0008 Generic Application Form for Canada
  • IMM-0008DEP Additional Dependents/Declaration (if applicable)
  • Schedule A: Background/Declaration
  • IMM-5406 Additional Family Information

Step 2: Create an account

You can apply for the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program by creating an account on the official website.

Step 3: Fill out the application

You need to complete the application form with accurate details. Also, scan and upload the documents you collected earlier in PDF format.

Step 4: Pay fee

Next, you must submit the application fee and apply.

Step 5: Confirmation letter

IRCC will send you a letter by email — which will confirm that they have received your application.

If you are selected for nomination, you will soon get a nomination package via email. This package will include the following:

  • A SINP nomination approval letter
  • A work permit support letter
  • Information about how to move ahead with the PR application with the Government of Canada.

What’s next?

You will be given 6 months after the nomination to submit a complete application for permanent residency to Immigration. Refugees and Citizenship Canada. At the same time, your medical and security checks will be done. If IRCC requests any additional document or information — provide it without delay.
