The Best Eid Gift

Today has been one of those days where I cannot thank God enough for His blessings . To be able to write this short narrative is another blessing!

Eid is the time when mummy prepares sheerkhurma and it’s like an unsaid ritual to take it office for my friends. This year it was a new place and new people. All my colleagues were happy and excited for the planned Eid feast that were going to have in our office. I wonder how food brings people together and spreads love in the most beautiful ways.

Mumma packed the sheerkhurma and I was off to work with it. During lunch when I went to heat it, I thought of removing a little of the sheerkhurma aside for a staff member that prepares chaat in our office canteen. I filled two glasses and gave it to him. He was so happy and thankful. He thanked me twice with a child like smile . In my head I thought, that’s nothing compared to the hard work he puts in to prepare our snacks at office. The canteen staff hardly takes rest , standing and preparing food all day for the entire office.

Evenings at office are usually busy but every one makes it a thing to go the canteen and munch on some snacks. I paused my work for a bit to go get something to eat . I ended up at the chaat corner . I asked the very same staff member if chana chaat was available. He said yes and as I was heading to get the coupon for it, he stopped me. He offered me to prepare the chaat first and then submit the coupon later for the same. I was a little surprised because its a must to submit the coupon for placing the order . Since he insisted, I thought maybe I should wait and get the coupon later.

He prepared the chaat with extra masala and as always handed it over to me with a smile and said , ‘ Yeh mere taraf se apko Eidi ’ ( This is Eid Gift for you from my side )

How big a heart can be ! I was overwhelmed. To my self I said, this has to be one of The Best Eid Gifts I have received.
