Interesting to try to think of analogs to CDs. Video games seem somewhat similar. Current systems and the games will likely go the way of the dodo bird with VR systems. In some respects, seems like music was somewhat unique though in that the delivery platform changed about every 10–15 years or so for a period of 40–50 years (from records, to 8-track, to cassettes, to CDs, to MP3/pure file formats). On the other hand, maybe music delivery just illustrates the general software eating the world concept that is happening across many industries.
